Youth Retreat

It was fun. Would like to do it again? If I could change anything, it would be more organization, Special thanks to Derrick, Earl, and Barry, I had a blast.

What I liked about the retreat was staying in the cabin meeting new people also the privilege to invite my friend. I was very thankful to be a part of this weekend experience. I look forward to coming back to another church service, it was amazing.

The retreat overall was a success! The youth enjoyed themselves very much. There was plenty of food, fun, and entertainment.
On Friday night there was a bonfire and a performance by the BALLOON MAN and some dancing and singing by the youth who weren't afraid to show off their talents.

On Saturday night there was a scavenger hunt; group discussions that were gender based that gave the youth a chance to get to know each other on a more personal level and also get open advice from Ashley and I. I must admit that even I had a chance to learn from the girls and even try to give them insight on experiences I have had in my life. In my opinion Saturday was the most effective night. The youth seemed to be more comfortable around each other and interacting with more than the youth from their respective churches. We also had

Thanksgiving dinner which the youth enjoyed and we even had some youth help with serving.

On Sunday after waking up and eating breakfast, we attended
Youth Retreat church services and even had Brittany Davis sing and a step from Jamal

Cobb, Arionna Camp, Terralyn Booth, Taia Goodwin, and Zaria Lucas for the congregation.

I personally would like to thank Uncle Mark and Aunt Lynn for giving us the opportunity to do something with the youth and show them that church activities can be fun and entertaining. I would also like to thank the chaperones Ashley, Natalie, Earl, Derek, and Barry. It was more of them then us but WE MADE IT. To everybody that helped in any way I really appreciate it, itís hard to mention names with so much going on and I wouldn't want to leave anyone out.

I received a text from a few of the ladies from Breath of Life saying when AMAZING GRACE has more events to let them know and thanking us for such a wonderful time.

On the Friday of the retreat we met with each other, spent a little time getting to know each other and ate together. We also had a bonfire where the topic of discussion was love, hip hop, and God. We discussed how each topic is relevant to life. And we also discussed how all topics tie end to each other. We also had a speaker that night that delivered the word by using his life story and playing tricks on the human eye through illusions. We also had more food, music, and a dance off that night.

Saturday we ate breakfast together. After that we had group discussions where subjects such as school, living situations, everyday events, peer pressure, and forgiveness. On Saturday we also did a scavenger hunt. The steppers put their step together also. We ate thanksgiving dinner with our church family, at which some of the youth served the dinner. We also had another speaker that night. Sunday we got up and ate breakfast together and went to church.

We gave prizes to the youth who could name the most books of the bible. Nekeya won that naming 58 books. Arionna won a prize for being able to list the most names of the people who participated. Cobe and Taia got a prize for going above and beyond what was asked of them on Saturday night. We also gave prizes to the team who won the scavenger hunt and the most outgoing person.
Special thanks to all the people who helped make this retreat a success.
